Custom URLs modify the tracking links within your emails to match your organization's branding. There are several reasons customers may want to make this change.
- Branding reasons - Customers do not want to have ContactMonkey URLs displayed within any of the email content references or links
- Safelink and Safelisting alternative allowlisting - Customers can continue to keep their existing allowlists for their organizations without needing to add allow lists for the ContactMonkey Addresses
- As a secondary consequence, this will also allow customers to avoid having "ghost clicks" from being counted as a part of their Campaign Statistics
- Customers will need to add their custom URL to their allowlist
Your custom URL will need to be a subdomain. For example, if your main domain is example.com, you may wish to use newsletters.example.com or internalcomms.example.com as your custom URL.
ContactMonkey Addresses
Below are the addresses that can appear in an email, depending on the originating region. Each region may require Custom URL entries if a customer is sending from multiple regions.
Location/Domain | Example Tracking Link |
USA - contactmonkey.com |
https://contactmonkey.com/api/v1/tracker?cm_session= |
Australia - tkau.cmnky.co |
https://tkau.cmnky.co/api/v1/tracker?cm_session= |
Canada - tkca.cmnky.co |
https://tkca.cmnky.co/api/v1/tracker?cm_session= |
Europe - tk.cmnky.co |
https://tk.cmnky.co/api/v1/tracker?cm_session= |
After Making Changes
After sending an email campaign through ContactMonkey, tracking links are appended to the front of any URL in the email. The URLs will appear like in the below example
https://contactmonkey.com/api/v1/tracker?cm_session=a99999a9-aa99-999a-99a9-a9999aa9a9a9&cs=9a99aa99-a99a-9aaa-aaaa-a99aaaaa99aa&i=9a999aa99999aaaa999a99a9a99a99a999a99a9a9999999a9aa9999a9a999999&cm_type=link&cm_link=999aa999a-9a99-9a9a-aa99-a99a99aaaa9a&cm_destination=https://www.google.com/
By adding your custom URL, we are modifying this tracking link to instead contain your custom URL, for example, https://comm.123.com.
This will then change the URLs from starting with
https://contactmonkey.com/api/v1/tracker?cm_session=...
to become URLS starting with
https://comm.123.com/api/v1/tracker?cm_session=...
Making this change will help maintain the branding of your organization and make it appear that support links as internal in your email host.
