Menu Feature: Create a Table of Contents

The menu feature enables you to create hyperlinks to direct users to external links. We also recommend using it to direct users to different parts of your email.

Your readers are able to click the section in the menu that they are most interested in and they are brought to that specific section automatically.

This article will explain how to create a menu within your email communication.

1. Insert Menu

Drag and drop the “MENU” option from your content tiles to the top of your Email.

2. Access Menu Settings

Click on the content row to make your Content Properties viewable in the sidebar on the right-hand side:

(please take note that “An update from our CEO” is the first section of this communication)

3. Configure Menu Options

Click “Add new item” and then within the “Text” field you will add the first Menu item for your email. In the URL field, add a "#" followed by your desired text. The screenshot below says "CEOUPDATE", but it can be whatever you like, as long as it's typed in all caps and there are no spaces or special characters. Insert_Anchor_Link_Menu.png

4. Create Link Destination

Next we are going to drag an empty row to the desired destination of the first link. In our case, we want users to be redirected to the first section, highlight the message from our CEO.

The reason for this is so the platform knows where to jump down to within the email when a reader clicks on an item in the Menu.

5. Insert HTML Coding

Click on where it says “I’m a new HTML block”. Paste in this code :

<a name="XXX"></a><br />

You will need to replace XXX with the name of the link or button without the #. So in this case it would be:

<a name="CEOUPDATE"></a><br />

6. Repeat for Entire Email

Repeat steps 1-5 for each of the menu options you would like to offer your recipients. .

Worried about HTML Block Formatting?

The HTML blocks won't be visible in the final version of your email.

Menu formatting

Within Content properties, you can update the font type, size, and color. You can also edit the layout of your menu.

We recommend using this horizontal line as a separator so your menu items appear as below:   “ | ”
