To ensure you have access to the latest features and improvements for your ContactMonkey SharePoint integration, your SharePoint Administrator may need to update the ContactMonkey app in your SharePoint environment on occassion.
Who Can Update the App?
These steps must be completed by a SharePoint Administrator for the initial deployment/update to the SharePoint environment. Subsequent updates within individual sites may be performed by a SharePoint Site Owner.
Step 1: Checking Your Current App Version (Optional But Recommended)
Before updating, you can check which version of the ContactMonkey app is currently deployed in your SharePoint environment and compare it with the latest available version.
-
- Log in to your organization's SharePoint Admin Center.
- Navigate to the Apps section. This may be found under "More features" in the left-hand navigation menu, depending on your SharePoint version.
- In the table that appears, you will see your currently installed app version listed next to "ContactMonkey app."
To view the most recent available version, select the "ContactMonkey app" from the list and click "View app details."
Under the "Details & Support" section, you will find the "Latest version" number. Compare this to your currently installed version.
Step 2: Updating The ContactMonkey SharePoint App (SharePoint Administrator Action)
There are typically two main ways to get the latest version into your SharePoint instance: updating an existing app, or removing and then re-deploying the newest version. This action updates the app in your organization's central SharePoint App Catalog.
- Log in to your organization's SharePoint Admin Center.
- Navigate to the Apps section. This may be found under the "More features" navigation in the menu on the left, depending on your SharePoint version.
- Open your Apps list or App Catalog.
- Locate the "ContactMonkey app" in the list.
- To Update (if an option is visible): Look for an "Update" button or link next to the ContactMonkey app. Click it and follow any prompts to apply the update.
-
To Re-deploy (if an update option is not clear or preferred):
- First, remove the existing "ContactMonkey app" from your App Catalog.
- Then, search for the ContactMonkey Connector and re-add it.
- Propagate Changes to Sites (Next Step for Site Owners): After updating or re-deploying the app in the Admin Center, SharePoint Site Owners may need to update the app within their individual sites to apply the changes. Please refer to Step 3: Updating the ContactMonkey App within Your SharePoint Site for detailed instructions.
Important Note: The exact steps and interface elements (e.g., "Update app" button location) can vary slightly based on your specific SharePoint version and configuration.
Step 3: Updating The ContactMonkey App Within Your SharePoint Site (SharePoint Site Owner Action)
After your SharePoint Administrator has updated or re-deployed the ContactMonkey app to your organization's SharePoint environment (as described in Step 2), you may need to update the app within individual sites to access the newest features. This step is typically required if your SharePoint administrator has not configured apps to auto-update across all sites.
If you can't see the newest features in your site's connector, follow these steps:
- From your SharePoint site, click your initials at the top right-hand corner.
- Click the Settings gear icon (⚙️) and select Site contents.
- Locate the "ContactMonkey app" in the list of apps.
- Click Show actions (often represented by three dots
...
or a dropdown menu) next to the app, then select Details. - On the app details page, look for an update option and click GET IT (or a similar "Update" button).
This will update the ContactMonkey app specifically for that SharePoint site. You will need to repeat this step for each site where the ContactMonkey app is added and requires a new version.
Important Note: The exact steps and interface elements (e.g., "Update app" button location) can vary slightly based on your specific SharePoint version and configuration.
