Dynamic Content allows you to personalize emails by showing different content to different audience segments—all within a single email. Instead of creating separate emails for each group, you can target specific recipients while maintaining consistent messaging across your organization.
How Dynamic Content Works
Dynamic Content uses your contact lists from List Management to control who sees specific sections of your email:
- Global content appears for all recipients (headers, footers, company-wide announcements)
- Dynamic rows display only to selected contact lists
- Recipients in multiple lists see all relevant content in one email (no duplicates)
Example: You're announcing regional office events. With Dynamic Content:
- New York employees see NYC event details
- London employees see London event details
- Both groups see the same header, footer, and company-wide message
Why Use Dynamic Content?
Save time: Build one email instead of managing multiple versions for different teams.
Increase relevance: Recipients only see content that applies to them, improving engagement.
Maintain consistency: Keep your messaging unified while personalizing specific sections.
Simplify sending: No need to track which email version went to which group.
Common Use Cases
Dynamic Content adapts to many communication scenarios:
Department-specific updates: Send IT updates to tech teams and policy changes to HR—all in one email.
Location-based messaging: Share region-specific details for events, office openings, or weather alerts.
Role-targeted content: Deliver strategic updates to leadership while sharing operational details with frontline staff.
Language preferences: Send content in recipients' preferred languages without separate campaigns.
Event invitations: Promote local workshops, webinars, or team-building events to relevant audiences.
Targeted announcements: Highlight internal programs, training sessions, or policy deadlines based on segmentation.
Recognition and awards: Feature employee achievements, anniversaries, or team-specific recognitions in newsletters.
How Recipients Receive Dynamic Content
Recipients only see content assigned to their contact lists. Here's how different audiences experience the same email:
All Employees list: Sees global content (headers, footers, company-wide announcements).
US Employees list: Sees global content + US-specific dynamic rows.
EU Employees list: Sees global content + EU-specific dynamic rows.
Multiple lists (ex: someone in both US Employees and Sales Team): Sees global content + all dynamic rows assigned to their lists in one email.
