Dynamic Content allows you to personalize your email communications by displaying specific content to different segments of your audience. Instead of creating multiple versions of the same email, you can deliver targeted messages within a single email, ensuring recipients see only the content relevant to them.
What is Dynamic Content?
Dynamic Content enables you to tailor sections of an email based on lists within ContactMonkey's List Management feature.
Because List Management allows you to create lists based on specific conditions or rules, it’s perfect for creating Dynamic Content. Using your List Management lists enables you to target content based on audience attributes, such as location, department, job role, or any other segmentation criteria you have defined.
For example:
- A team in New York sees details about an upcoming in-person event in their city.
- A sales team receives content relevant to their goals, while an HR team sees onboarding updates.
With Dynamic Content, you can speak directly to your audience’s needs without creating multiple emails.
How Dynamic Content Works
Creating an email with Dynamic Content fits into your existing email-creating flow. Follow these three steps to get started:
-
Design Your Email and Finalize Content: Include both global content and content tailored to specific audience segments.
-
Select Contact Lists for Content-Specific Rows: Use lists created in List Management to set display conditions for individual rows.
-
Send to All Desired Contact Lists: Contact lists assigned to dynamic rows will be preselected automatically, ensuring targeted delivery.
Benefits of Dynamic Content
Here are some of the key benefits of using Dynamic Content:
-
Personalized Communication: Deliver tailored messages that resonate with your audience, improving relevance and engagement.
-
Time and Effort Savings: Create one email with multiple variations instead of managing several separate emails.
-
Improved Engagement Rates: Targeted content increases the likelihood that your audience will interact with your message.
- Consistent Messaging: Maintain a unified tone and design while customizing content for specific groups.
Using Dynamic Content can streamline your email creation process and ensure that every recipient receives information that matters to them.
Common Use Cases for Dynamic Content
Dynamic Content is versatile and can be applied in many scenarios to improve the impact of your communications. Here are some common examples:
-
Department-Specific Announcements: Tailor company updates to different teams, such as sending IT-related updates to the tech team and policy changes to HR.
-
Location-Based Messaging: Send region-specific details for events, office openings, or weather-related updates.
-
Role-Specific Content: Customize content based on job roles. For example, leadership teams receive strategic updates, while frontline staff see operational details.
-
Language Preferences: Deliver emails in different languages based on user preferences or location.
-
Event Invitations: Highlight local events, workshops, or webinars that apply to specific audience segments.
- Targeted Promotions or Reminders: Use segmentation to promote internal programs, training sessions, or policy deadlines.
With these use cases, Dynamic Content empowers you to send the right message to the right people, all within a single email.
How Dynamic Content Recipients Receive Emails
Dynamic Content ensures that recipients only see the parts of an email relevant to their assigned lists. Here's a visual demonstration of how it works:
In this example, there are four possible versions for a recipient to receive, which vary based on which list(s) they are in.
1. All Employees:
- This group will see the global content visible to all recipients, such as general company updates, announcements, or headers and footers.
- Global content is designed to ensure consistent messaging across all recipients.
2. US Employees:
- In addition to the global content, this group will see dynamic rows specifically assigned to the "US Employees" list.
- For example, this might include regional updates, US-specific announcements, or relevant promotions.
3. EU Employees and APAC Employees:
- These groups will see both the global content and the dynamic rows specifically assigned to their respective "EU Employees" or "APAC Employees" lists.
- This ensures that regional teams only receive content relevant to their location.
4. Recipients Belonging to Multiple Lists:
- If a recipient is part of more than one list (e.g., Jane Doe is part of both "US Employees" and "EU Employees"), they will see all the dynamic rows assigned to their lists along with the global content.
- This approach ensures they receive comprehensive messaging tailored to their multiple roles or locations.
