Attaching a file, article or document to a button or link in the ContactMonkey email builder is a great way to track if employees are engaging with the content that you are sending out to them while also being able to send larger files than usual. We always recommend embedding your attachments in the email builder instead of attaching them when sending.
This is very easy to do and can be implemented by following the steps below:
Connect file via hyperlink
1. Configure Your Text
Insert your text box into the template and insert your text.
2. Configure Your Link
Highlight the text and click the link icon.
3. Link to File Manager
Change "Link Type" to "File Manager". This will open the file manager for you.
4. Upload the File
Upload the file you would like to share by clicking Upload on the top left-hand side, selecting the file and clicking Open. The file will then be uploaded to the file manager
5. Insert the File
Select the file you have uploaded to the file manager to connect to the link by clicking "Insert".
6. Confirm the File
The file will now be connected to the link, click "Ok"
The text has now turned into a link. When the template is sent the recipient will then be able to download the file connected to the link by simply clicking on it.
Connect file via button
Connecting a file to a button is very similar to the link and can be done by following these step:
1. Insert a Button Content Block
Insert a button box in the template and rename it whatever you would like.
2. Link the File Under "Action" in the Sidebar
Select the button and in the sidebar click "Link file"
3. Upload the File into Your File Manager
Upload the file you would like to share by clicking Upload on the top left-hand side, selecting the file and clicking Open. The file will then be uploaded to the file manager.
4. Insert the File into Your Communication
Select the file you have uploaded to the file manager to connect to the link by clicking "Insert."
The file will now be linked to the button. When the template is sent, the recipient can download the file connected to the button by simply clicking on it.
From here, you can edit the button as usual, see Using Buttons.
Before Sending
Please note that for we recommend sending the email to yourself using the "Send&Track" button to test all hyperlinks and buttons.
