When recipients register for a ContactMonkey event, they can immediately add it to their calendar using one-click buttons or by downloading an ICS file. This article explains how the process works for event attendees.

The Event Registration Landing Page

After registering for an event, recipients see a confirmation page with multiple calendar options:

• Outlook Calendar – Adds event directly to Outlook Calendar
• Google Calendar – Adds event directly to Google Calendar
• Apple Calendar – Adds event directly to Apple Calendar
• Download Calendar Invite – Downloads an ICS file for manual import

We recommend encouraging recipients to use the one-click calendar buttons rather than downloading the ICS file. This ensures the event gets added immediately and won't be forgotten.

Adding ICS Files to Outlook Calendar

1. Download the ICS file to your device
2. Open Outlook and click the calendar icon on the left
3. Click Add Calendar
4. Click Upload from file  
5. Click Browse and select your ICS file
6. Select which calendar to import to
7. Click Import

Adding ICS Files to Google Calendar

1. Download the ICS file to your device
2. Open Google Calendar
3. Click the gear icon at the top
4. Click Settings
5. Click Import & export
6. Click Select file from your computer
7. Browse and select your ICS file
8. Select which calendar to import to
9. Click Import

Adding ICS Files to Apple Calendar

1. Download the ICS file to your device
2. Open Apple Calendar
3. Click File
4. Click Import
5. Browse and select your ICS file
6. Click Import
7. Select which calendar to import to
8. Click OK

Important Notes

• Recipients must register for the event before they can add it to their calendar
• There is no alternative method to add ContactMonkey events to calendars

Tips for Event Organizers: Increasing Attendance

Share calendar instructions early: Include a link to this article in your event invitation so recipients know how easy it is to add events to their calendar.

Track calendar additions: Use the Event Details page in your ContactMonkey dashboard to see how many registrants added the event to their calendar. Export a CSV of registrants who haven't added the event yet and send them a reminder.
