Once a registrant confirms attendance to an event, they will have an option to add the event to their calendar (Gmail, Outlook, Apple) with the click of a button, or by downloading an ICS file for later import to their calendar. Read below to understand how people can easily add an event to their different email platforms and calendars below.
Add To Calendar With One Click Or Download An ICS File
After your email recipients click to register for an event (using ContactMonkey's Events feature), recipients will be presented with the below landing page that allows them to either add the event to their calendar, or download the ICS file for later import.
When a user clicks Outlook, Gmail, or Apple Calendar, the event will be automatically added to their chosen calendar with one click!
Continue reading below for instructions on how a user can choose to import an ICS file into either Google Calendar or Outlook on Desktop/OWA. We highly recommend that users leverage the easy "add to calendar" buttons, rather than downloading the ICS file.
Import An ICS File Into Google Calendar
- Click "Add to Calendar"
- Go to your Google Calendar.
- Click "Settings" the gear icon in the corner.
- Click Import and Export,
- Select import, and click on the file you would like to input into your calendar. The file will end with ".ics".
- Choose which calendar to import to, and select Import.
From there, the event details will appear on your chosen calendar! For more information, click here.
Import An ICS File Into Outlook on Desktop/OWA
- Select "Add to Calendar" from the event page sent to you.
- Save the file on your device.
- Double click to open the file, and this window should appear. Select "Add to Calendar".
- From there, the event should be added to your primary calendar.
Note: The only way for a user to add an event set up through ContactMonkey's Event feature to their calendar would be to register for the event and click the "add to calendar" button(s), or download the ICS file.
Tip: Increasing Turn-Out
- Include this article in your communications so your recipients know how to add your event to their calendar.
- Encourage your event attendees to use the easy "add to calendar" button(s) rather than downloading an ICS file. This will ensure that your attendees don't forget to add the event to their calendar!
- Leverage the Events tab and specifically the Event Details page to get a better idea of how many of your attendees actually added the event to their calendar. Download a CSV file of folks who didn't have a chance yet to add the event to their calendars and target them with follow up communication to remind them of the upcoming event!
