ContactMonkey supports both Outlook 365 and Outlook Non-365, with key differences in platform availability, tracking limits, and update methods. This comparison helps you understand which features are available for your version.
Platform Compatibility
Outlook 365 works on Windows, Mac, and Outlook Web (OWA). Outlook Non-365 only works on Windows desktop.
Tracking Limits
Outlook 365 supports individual tracking for up to 1,000 recipients per email. Outlook Non-365 supports individual tracking for up to 500 recipients per email.
Individual tracking means each recipient receives a personalized email that tracks their open and click behavior. If you need to send to more than 500 people, use Outlook 365 or switch to Overall tracking.
Scheduled Sending
Both versions support scheduled sending, but they work differently.
Outlook 365 schedules emails through the cloud. Your email sends at the scheduled time even if Outlook is closed.
Outlook Non-365 requires Outlook to be running when the scheduled time arrives. If Outlook is closed, the email remains in your outbox and is sent when you next open Outlook.
For reliable scheduled sending without keeping Outlook open, use Outlook 365.
Software Updates
Outlook 365 updates automatically through the cloud. You always have the latest ContactMonkey features without manual action.
Outlook Non-365 requires manual updates 2-3 times per year. You need to download and install updates to access new features and bug fixes.
Shared Mailbox Support
Both Outlook 365 and Outlook Non-365 support sending from shared mailboxes. You need appropriate send-as permissions from your Exchange administrator.
Distribution List Sending
Both versions let you send using distribution lists with the right permissions; however, accurate tracking is only guaranteed with Outlook 365 (more information here). Your IT administrator controls these permissions in your Exchange environment.
Add-in
Both versions include the ContactMonkey Add-in. This lets you insert emails, select tracking options, count recipients, and send or schedule campaigns directly from Outlook. They vary in functionality, which you can learn more about below:
