By default, the ContactMonkey Connector is deployed from the SharePoint Store to your tenant app catalog, making it available across your organization. If your organization has stricter SharePoint governance and needs the Connector available on only certain sites, a SharePoint Administrator can deploy it to those sites individually using a Site Collection App Catalog (SCAC).
A Site Collection App Catalog is a per-site app catalog you enable on an individual site collection. An app uploaded there is available on that site only; it isn't discoverable or installable on other sites, and it doesn't rely on your tenant app catalog.
Prerequisites
Please ensure you have read the following articles:
- Integrating ContactMonkey and Microsoft SharePoint
- Updating the ContactMonkey Connector SharePoint App
Before you start:
- This is an alternative to Store/tenant-wide deployment. You don't need both.
- A Connector installed this way has the same functionality as a tenant-wide install.
- It stays isolated: the app won't appear on site collections where you haven't deployed it.
- Because it isn't installed from the Store, it won't auto-update. When a new version is released, a SharePoint Administrator re-uploads the updated package to each site's catalog (step 5).
Make the App Available to a Specific Site (SharePoint Admin) with a Site Collection App Catalog
Use this approach if you are a SharePoint Administrator and want to push the app to a specific site without requiring site owners to install it manually.
- SharePoint admin: Enable the catalog. Enable a Site Collection App Catalog on the target site, following Microsoft's instructions: Use the site collection app catalog.
-
SharePoint admin: Get the package. Download the ContactMonkey SharePoint Connector package (
.sppkg) from this page. -
SharePoint admin: Upload it. On the target site, go to Settings (gear) → Site contents → Apps for SharePoint, then upload the
.sppkg(drag-and-drop, or the Upload button).- You may see a prompt asking whether to "make this solution available to all sites in the organization." Despite the wording, when you upload to a site collection app catalog the app is only made available to this site collection either way — it does not deploy tenant-wide. Confirm/Deploy to continue.
- SharePoint admin: Add it to the site. Go to Settings (gear) → Add an app (or Site contents → Add an app), find the ContactMonkey Connector under From your organization, and add it. Then embed the Connector web part on a page.
-
To update later. When a new package is released, download the latest
.sppkgand re-upload it to the site's app catalog to replace the existing version. - Connect it. From here, continue with the standard connection steps (API key, delivery channel, access request approval) exactly as for a Store install. See Integrating ContactMonkey and Microsoft SharePoint.
