Browse your team's Canva library and insert designs directly into your emails — without leaving ContactMonkey.
Prerequisites
- The Canva integration must be enabled for your organization (available on Grow and Enterprise plans).
- An org admin must connect Canva in Settings before anyone can use it.
Connect Canva (org admins only)
Only org admins can set up the Canva integration. You only need to do this once for your entire organization.
- Go to Settings in ContactMonkey.
- Find the Canva integration tile.
- Click Connect and complete the Canva login.
Once connected, all users in your organization can access Canva content immediately.
To remove access, return to Settings and click Disconnect.
Browse your Canva content
Once Canva is connected, you can browse your team's Canva library directly in the email builder. You can browse folders (including nested folders) and files saved at the root level.
Content is ordered with the most recently created items first. ContactMonkey loads up to 100 files at a time.
Note: Due to a Canva limitation, only the first 3 folders appear initially. Click View more to load additional folders.
Insert a Canva asset into an email
Select any supported Canva item to insert it into your email as an image.
Supported in this version:
- Designs and images — inserted as images
- Documents and spreadsheets — inserted as images
- Videos — inserted as a static thumbnail (no video playback)
Not supported in this version:
- Whiteboards and PDFs cannot be exported as images through the Canva API, so they cannot be inserted.
Why images are stored by ContactMonkey
Canva links can expire or change over time. When you insert a Canva asset, ContactMonkey automatically saves a copy on its side - so your image stays accessible in sent emails even if the original Canva asset changes later. This happens in the background with no extra steps required.
Troubleshooting
I don't see any Canva option in ContactMonkey.
The integration may not be enabled for your organization or plan. Contact your org admin or your ContactMonkey CSM.
I can only see a few folders.
Click View more to load additional folders.
My asset won't insert. Whiteboards and PDFs are not supported for image export through the Canva API. Videos will insert as a static thumbnail only.
