Admins can download any contact list from the directory as a CSV file. Use this when you need a backup before making bulk changes, want to share an audience list outside ContactMonkey, or need to reconcile a list against an export from another system.
Prerequisites
- A ContactMonkey account with the Owner/Admin role
- A contact list already saved in the directory
How to Download a Contact List
- Click Directory at the top of the ContactMonkey dashboard
- Click Lists
- Open the contact list you want to download
- Click Download

ContactMonkey will export the list as a CSV file and send it to you by email. The file includes every contact in the list along with their associated fields (name, email, and any custom columns).
Tip: Rename the downloaded file with a date (for example,
tuesday-newsletter-2026-05-05.csv) before sharing or archiving it. This makes it easier to track changes if you download the same list again later.
