This article explains how to attach files to emails sent from the Outlook Dashboard, which file types are supported, and the size limits that apply.
Note: Attachments are not available for Gmail Dashboard at this time.
How to Attach a File to a Dashboard Send
- Click Emails at the top of the ContactMonkey dashboard
- Click Compose & Send
- Click the attachments area
- Select the file(s) you want to attach from your computer.
- Review the attached files listed on your send, then send or schedule your email as usual.
Recipients receive the files as standard email attachments, directly in their inbox.

Supported file types
You can attach the following file types to a Dashboard Send:
- Documents: PDF, Word, TXT
- Data: Excel, CSV
- Presentations: PowerPoint
- Images: JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP
- Calendar invites: ICS
File types such as executables, scripts, ZIP archives, and SVG images are not supported. These are excluded for security reasons and because most email clients block them.
Attachment size limit
The maximum total attachment size is 10MB per email. This is the combined size of all attached files, not a per-file limit.
The 10MB limit keeps your emails deliverable across major email clients. Email providers such as Outlook enforce a total message size ceiling, and attachments are encoded in a way that increases their size in transit. The 10MB cap ensures your email — body, images, and attachments — arrives reliably.
Troubleshooting
Problem: The attachment option is not visible on the send screen.
Solution: Attachments are only available for regular Dashboard Sending. If your organization uses Gmail Dashboard Sending, attachments are not yet supported.
Problem: A file will not attach because it exceeds the size limit.
Solution: Reduce the file size (for example, compress images inside a PDF), or upload the file to the File Manager and link to it in your email instead. Click here for more information.
Problem: A file type is not accepted.
Solution: Convert the file to a supported format (for example, export a document as PDF), or link to the file using the File Manager.
