Web App Sending lets you create, schedule, approve, and send fully tracked email campaigns directly from the ContactMonkey dashboard, without needing to access your email client or a desktop add-in.
It gives teams a browser-based sending experience for internal communications, with every tool you need in one place: prepare a campaign in ContactMonkey, choose your audience, get stakeholder approvals, and send with confidence.
What is the Web App?
Web App Sending (formerly Dashboard Sending) allows ContactMonkey users to send email campaigns directly within the ContactMonkey dashboard, instead of from your email client. Web App sending is available for both Outlook and Gmail users.
By sending directly from the ContactMonkey dashboard, users are able to:
- Compose and send email campaigns from the ContactMonkey dashboard. Create, send, and track campaigns in one place, without switching to your email client.
- Send to your entire list within minutes. Leverage high-speed delivery while retaining accurate open and click data for each recipient, regardless of organization or distribution list size.
- Use your existing Outlook distribution lists. Your existing Azure distribution lists work in the ContactMonkey web app, retaining tenant list ownership and no list re-building necessary.
- Manage approvals right from the dashboard. Our built-in Approvals Workflow consolidates feedback all within one place across all stakeholders.
- Resend to your intended audience. Within 2 clicks, you can resend a campaign to everyone who received it, or only to the recipients who didn't open it—all without rebuilding the campaign from scratch.
- Add important attachments to your comms. Attach files up to 10MB directly to Outlook Web App campaigns, delivered as standard email attachments.
- Send to distribution lists synced from your HRIS. Send campaigns to lists synced directly from any HRIS system you utilize.
Prerequisites
Web App Sending is available for organizations who use Outlook and Gmail:
- List Management, so ContactMonkey can manage or reference campaign audiences
- SendGrid, for eligible high-volume sending
- Web App Sending enabled for your organization
Note: Compose & Send must be enabled in your account backend before it appears in your dashboard. If you don't see this prompt, contact your Customer Success Manager or support@contactmonkey.com if you are interested in this feature.
Web App Sending and synced Azure distribution lists
For eligible Outlook/Microsoft 365 organizations, admins can sync supported Azure distribution lists into ContactMonkey. Once synced, those lists appear in the Web App Sending flow so senders can select them from the Send to field.
This helps teams:
- Use existing Microsoft 365 / Exchange distribution lists
- Avoid recreating the same lists manually in ContactMonkey
- Keep list ownership and maintenance in Microsoft 365
- Send to approved organizational lists from the ContactMonkey web app
For more information, please refer to our Sync and Send to Azure Distribution Lists guide.
Web App Sending and Approvals
Approval Workflows add a review step before a campaign is sent. When an email is submitted for approval, the approver can review the email from a link, approve or reject it, and optionally leave feedback.
After approval:
- Send-now emails still require the sender to return to ContactMonkey and send manually.
- Scheduled emails can send at the scheduled time if they are approved before that time.
- If a scheduled email is not approved before its scheduled time, it will not send.
This keeps approval connected to the email send process and gives teams a clearer record of sign-off. For more information, please refer to our How to Submit an Email for Approval guide.
Web App Tracking
Web App Sending can support different tracking types depending on your organization’s needs:
- Individual tracking shows recipient-level engagement, such as individual opens and clicks.
- Anonymous tracking provides detailed campaign engagement while anonymizing recipient identity and retaining GDPR-compliance.
