If an email address you added as plain text turns blue and underlined in Classic Outlook, it's because Outlook auto-links it. To keep your own styling, add the hyperlink yourself in the Email Builder and set its color — Outlook then keeps your styling instead of applying its default link style.
Why does my email address turn blue and underlined?
When you type an email address as plain text, Outlook automatically detects it, converts it to a mailto: link, and applies the recipient's default hyperlink style — usually blue with an underline. This happens in Classic Outlook when it renders HTML emails, no matter how the text was styled in ContactMonkey.

Note: New Outlook renders HTML differently and does not auto-create these links the same way. Results can vary across email clients.
How to keep your own styling: hyperlink the address yourself
Adding your own hyperlink to the email address tells Outlook to use your styling instead of its default.
- In the Email Builder, highlight the email address text
- Select the hyperlink (chain) icon in the text editor
- In the URL field, enter
mailto:[emailaddress](for example,mailto:support@company.com) - Set the Text color to the color you want
- Send yourself a test email in Outlook to confirm the address keeps your styling
The address stays a working mailto: link — this controls how it looks, not whether it's clickable.
