List Management - Update Expired Workday API Credentials

Your Workday list synchronization will fail when the API credentials stored in ContactMonkey expire or become invalid. This happens when your Workday administrator changes the password for the integration user account or deletes the account.

What You Need Before Starting

  • ContactMonkey Administrator-level privileges
  • New Workday API credentials from your IT or Workday administration team
  • The report URL, username, and password for the Workday integration account

Why Credentials Expire

Workday API credentials expire when:

  • Your organization's password policies require periodic changes
  • The Workday integration user account password is manually reset
  • The integration user account is deactivated or deleted
  • Your Workday administrator updates security settings

How to Identify Expired Credentials

You'll receive a synchronization failure notification in the ContactMonkey Dashboard when credentials expire. The error message will indicate that authentication failed during the sync attempt.

Update Your Workday Credentials

  1. Contact your Workday administration team to obtain new API credentials
  2. Click Directory at the top of the ContactMonkey dashboard
  3. Locate the Workday tile and click Configure
  4. Re-enter your Workday report URL, username, and password
  5. Click Connect to Workday

Verify the Update

After updating credentials, manually trigger a list sync to confirm the connection works. If the sync completes successfully, your credentials are now active.

Troubleshooting

Sync still fails after updating credentials
Verify you entered the correct username and password with no extra spaces. Contact your Workday administrator to confirm the account has the necessary API permissions.

Can't access the ContactMonkey directory
You need ContactMonkey Administrator privileges to update Workday credentials. Contact your ContactMonkey administrator to request access or have them update the credentials.

Don't know who manages Workday at your organization
Check with your IT help desk or internal directory to find your Workday system administrator.
