Upload a CSV file to send SMS campaigns to multiple recipients at once from the Compose & Send section of the ContactMonkey dashboard. Click here for steps on uploading CSVs to your Directory for reuse across campaigns.
Before You Begin
Your CSV file must meet these requirements:
- File format: UTF-8 encoding
- Phone numbers: E.164 format
-
Column headers: Include
PhoneNumberas the first column if you don't have email addresses
E.164 format explained: This international phone number standard ensures SMS deliverability. Format phone numbers as [+][country code][area code][phone number] with a maximum of 15 digits (example: +15555555555). Click here for a list of all supported countries.

Use the Sample CSV Template
If you're creating a CSV from scratch, consider using ContactMonkey's sample template to ensure compatibility:
- In the Compose & Send section of the dashboard, click the CSV icon
- Click it again after it displays the download icon
- Open the downloaded file
- Add your recipient data to the template
- Save the file in UTF-8 format
- Return to the Compose & Send page and click Upload CSV
- Browse and select your CSV file
Note: The column headers in the sample CSV are suggestions, and the only mandatory field is PhoneNumber. If you only want to use PhoneNumber, it must be placed in column A of your spreadsheet.
