Individual Tracking
Best for: Detailed reporting when privacy regulations permit
What you'll see:
- Exactly who opened your email
- Exactly who clicked links
- When each person engaged
- Ability to resend to non-openers
Reports include:
- Unique opens (each person counted once)
- Total opens (includes multiple opens)
- Unopened recipients
- Click tracking per recipient
Important considerations:
- Because each recipient is tracked individually, this option is best suited to targeted, identified sends
- For larger lists, use Email at Scale, which is built to deliver big campaigns quickly
- Stores recipient's personal information
Anonymous Tracking
Best for: Detailed reporting with GDPR or privacy compliance
What you'll see:
- Overall engagement metrics
- Segmented data (by department, location, etc.)
- Who engaged (anonymized)
Reports include:
- Unique opens (anonymized)
- Total opens
- Click tracking (anonymized)
How anonymization works:
- Email addresses are stored temporarily during sending
- Merge fields populate correctly if applicable
- After successful delivery, all personal identifiable information (PII) is removed
- Only anonymized engagement data remains
Important considerations:
- Because each recipient is tracked individually before anonymization, this option is best suited to targeted sends; for larger lists, use Email at Scale
- Not available for Outlook Non-365 users
- Segments with fewer than 10 recipients show no data (prevents identification)
- Cannot resend to specific non-openers
Overall Tracking
Best for: Fast sending with high-level metrics
What you'll see:
- High-level engagement data
- Device-based opens (not person-based)

- Unique device opens
