ContactMonkey natively supports embedding public YouTube and Vimeo videos. If your video is hosted privately (such as on your company's intranet or internal server), you can create a clickable thumbnail that links to your video using this workaround.
Step 1: Create a Video Thumbnail
Capture a screenshot of your video to use as the thumbnail image. Most devices include built-in screenshot tools:
- Windows: Use Snipping Tool
-
Mac: Press
Shift+Command+4
Step 2: Add the Thumbnail to Your Email
Insert the screenshot into an Image content block in the Email Builder
Step 3: Add a Play Button Overlay
- Select the image and click Apply effects in the right sidebar
- Navigate to the Shapes tab
- Insert a triangle shape
- Rotate the triangle to create a play button icon
- Click the plus icon, then the gear icon to customize the triangle's color and/or add an outline
- Click Apply, then Save
Step 4: Link to Your Video
In the properties menu on the right:
- Scroll to Image Link
- Paste the link of your hosted video in the Url field
The final result will look identical to a standard video block, with a professional thumbnail and play button that links directly to your video.
