Segmented Email Stats allow you to analyze campaign performance by specific recipient attributes like department, location, or job title. This feature adds a Segmented Stats tab to your Campaign Overview page, displaying filtered analytics based on your Directory fields.
Prerequisites
- Segmented Email Stats must be set up in your Directory - click here for instructions
- Your campaign must use Individual or Anonymous tracking
Access Segmented Email Stats
1. Open Your Campaign Overview
- Click Emails at the top of your ContactMonkey dashboard
- Click Sent
- Select your desired email
- Click the Segmented Email Stats tab
3. Select Your Filter
Use the dropdown menu to choose which attribute to segment by. Your options depend on the fields you uploaded to your Directory (e.g., Department, Location, Job Title).
The data refreshes to show metrics broken down by your selected attribute.
What You'll See
Segmented Email Stats display the same metrics as your standard Campaign Overview, filtered by your chosen attribute:
Visual breakdown:
- Opens by segment (chart view)
- Clicks by segment (chart view)
Detailed breakdown:
- Total opens per segment
- Unique opens per segment
- Total clicks per segment
- Unique clicks per segment
- Open rate per segment
- Click rate per segment
Example: If you filter by Department, you'll see separate metrics for Marketing, Sales, HR, and any other departments in your Directory.
Download Segmented Stats
Click the Download Report button to export your filtered statistics as a CSV file. This allows you to:
- Compare segment performance across multiple campaigns
- Create custom reports for stakeholders
- Identify trends in specific audience segments

Interpret Your Results
High engagement segments: Identify which groups consistently open and click your emails. Use these insights to replicate successful messaging strategies.
Low engagement segments: Pinpoint groups that need different communication approaches. Consider adjusting content, timing, or format for these audiences.
Compare across campaigns: Download stats from multiple campaigns to track how specific segments respond to different message types over time.
Troubleshooting
Segmented Email Stats tab not visible?
Verify your campaign uses Individual or Anonymous tracking. This feature does not work with Overall tracking.
Segment shows no data?
For Anonymous tracking, segments with fewer than 10 recipients display no data to protect anonymity.
Expected segments are missing?
Check your Directory to ensure all recipients have values for your selected attribute. Recipients with blank or missing values won't appear in that segment filter.
