Send As Permissions allow you to control which users can send emails from specific email addresses when using Email at Scale. Owners and Administrators can add, view, edit, and delete these permissions directly in the dashboard.
Prerequisites
- Email at Scale feature enabled for your organization
- Owner or Administrator role in ContactMonkey
- Basic Users and Managers must contact an Owner or Administrator to request permission changes
Add a New Permission
- Click your name in the top right corner of the dashboard
- Click Settings
- Click Roles & Access → Send As Permissions
- Select New Permission
- In the pop-up, enter the following information:
- From Name: The display name recipients will see
- From Email: The email address recipients will see
- Use a different Reply-To Name and Email (optional): Select this if replies should go to a different name and address than the From fields
- Click Next: Assign Users
- Click the + icon beside each user who needs this permission
- Click Save Permission
Important: After saving in ContactMonkey, each authorized user must also add the permission in their Outlook settings before they can use it.
Security Note
New users do not automatically receive Send As permissions. An Owner or Administrator must grant permissions after the new user accepts their invitation. Use the Select All option to quickly grant permissions to all current license holders, but new license holders must be added individually.
Add the Permission in Outlook
After creating a permission in ContactMonkey, authorized users must add it in Outlook:
New Outlook
- Open a new message
- Click Options
- Check the Show From box
- Click the From dropdown menu beside the Send button
- Click Other email address…
- Enter the email address of the new permission
- Continue sending your campaign
Classic Outlook
- Click New Email
- Click Options
- Toggle From on in the Show Fields section
- Click the From dropdown menu beside the Send button
- Click Other Email Address…
- Enter the email address of the new permission
- Continue sending your campaign
Edit a Permission
- Navigate to Roles & Access in the ContactMonkey dashboard
- Click the pencil icon beside the permission you want to edit
- Update the Email Details and Authorized Users sections
- Click Save Permission
Delete a Permission
- Click the trashcan icon beside the permission you want to remove
- Click Delete to confirm
Test Send As Permissions
The Send Test option in the Outlook Add-in does not send through Email at Scale. Test new permissions this way instead:
- Open a new message
- Update the From field to the new permission
- Add your own email address in the To field
- Populate the subject line
- Select Individual or Anonymous tracking
- Click Send & Track
Note: The Send now prompt in Dashboard Sending will send through Email at Scale and works with Microsoft permissions if you have access to the alias email address through Outlook.

What happened to Authorized Senders?
Send As Permissions is the new name for this feature. The change reflects the full range of functionality it offers.
Where do I find Send As management?
Click your name at the top right → Settings → Roles & Access → Send As Permissions
Can I bulk upload multiple permissions?
Yes. Contact support@contactmonkey.com and our Technical Support team will guide you through the process.
Will my existing Send As permissions appear automatically?
Yes. All current Send As email addresses for your organization will automatically appear in the dashboard when you access this section.
What happens to old replies if I change a Reply-To address?
Replies to emails sent before the change will still go to the old Reply-To address. Only new emails will use the updated Reply-To address.
Does ContactMonkey validate email addresses?
ContactMonkey flags duplicate From Email entries and checks for obvious formatting errors, but does not fully validate addresses. Double-check for typos before sending.
