Before You Begin
- Connect your device to a power source or ensure it's fully charged
- Save all open work—updates may restart your computer
- Allow 30-60 minutes for the update to complete
- Back up important data using Time Machine (recommended)
Update macOS
For macOS Ventura (13) and Later
- Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner
- Click System Settings → General → Software Update
- Click Check Now if updates don't appear automatically
- If updates are available, click Update Now or Upgrade Now
- Enter your password if prompted
- Keep your device powered on until the update completes
For macOS Monterey (12) and Earlier
- Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner
- Click System Preferences → Software Update
- Click Check Now if updates don't appear automatically

If You Don't See Update Options
