ContactMonkey lets you export your emails in three formats: PDF, HTML, and JSON. Each format serves different purposes depending on how you plan to use your email outside the platform.
Export formats:
- PDF - Best for printing and physical display
- HTML - For web hosting or importing into other email systems
- JSON - For sharing editable email templates with your team (more information here)
Export Your Email as PDF
PDF exports preserve your email's formatting and design, making them ideal for printing and displaying in physical locations like factory floors, cafeterias, break rooms, or bulletin boards.
Important: Do not print directly from Outlook or Gmail, as this may cause formatting issues.
How to Export as PDF
- Open your email in the Email Builder
- Click the down arrow beside Save and Exit
- Choose your PDF format:
- Export as PDF (Full) - Preserves original dimensions
- Export as PDF (A4) - Formatted for standard A4 paper size
- Your PDF will download automatically to your device
The downloaded PDF is ready to print or share with others.
Export Your Email as HTML
Use HTML exports to host your email on a website or import it into other email platforms.
How to Export as HTML
- Open your email in the Email Builder
- Click the down arrow beside Save and Exit
- Select Export as HTML
- Your HTML will download automatically to your device
Add a Print Button for Recipients
Allow recipients to download and print the email themselves by adding a clickable button. This also tracks how many people access the file in your analytics.
- In the Email Builder, insert a new row at the bottom of your email
- Drag a Button content block into the row
- Label the button (ex: "Print this Email" or "Download PDF")
- Follow the steps here to link your file
