Insights Assistant is an AI chat panel that answers questions about your ContactMonkey campaign data in plain language — no dashboard filtering or spreadsheet exports required. Ask about open rates, trends, tags, or senders, and the assistant answers from your real campaign data.
Which Plans Include Insights Assistant?
Insights Assistant is included on all plans except Essential. If you don't see the assistant panel, confirm your plan with your Customer Success Manager.
How to Enable Insights Assistant (Admin Only)
Insights Assistant must be enabled by an Admin before it appears for your team.
- Click your name at the top right of the ContactMonkey dashboard
- Select Settings → Email Settings
- Locate the ContactMonkey AI section
- Toggle on Insights Assistant

How Does Insights Assistant Work?
Insights Assistant is a conversational layer over your ContactMonkey analytics. Every answer is drawn from your actual sends — it queries your data rather than generating estimated metrics. Ask follow-up questions and the assistant keeps the context of the conversation. It's available in the Home and Analytics sections of your dashboard, and on a single campaign's Data Overview page.
How Do I Ask a Question?
- Go to the Home or Analytics tab, or open the Data Overview page of an already-sent campaign
- Click Ask AI at the top right
- Type your question in plain language and press Enter, or select one of our pre-written prompts
The assistant returns a direct answer with a short interpretation. When your question spans multiple campaigns or a time range, it also displays an inline chart.
What Data Does Each Conversation Cover?
Each conversation is scoped to your currently selected team. To ask about campaigns in a different team, switch teams — this starts a new chat.
When you open Ask AI from a single campaign's performance page, the conversation is scoped to that campaign by default. The campaign name appears as a chip at the top of the chat, so references like "this" are understood to mean that campaign.
Note: On a campaign performance page, you can ask questions like "How does this open rate compare to our average over the last 90 days?" — "this" refers to the campaign shown in the chip.
How Do I Save an Insight?
Save any response by hovering your mouse over it in the chat and clicking Save as insight. Saved Insights are private to you. To review them later, click the bookmark icon.
What Can I Ask Insights Assistant?
Ask about any metric in your campaign data. Name tags and senders directly in your question — no dropdowns or filters needed. Examples:
- Performance: "What was my open rate and click rate last month?"
- Specific campaigns: "Which campaign had the highest open rate last month?"
- Trends over time: "How are we trending month over month on open rate this year?"
- By tag: "Show open rate and click rate by tag for the last 90 days."
- By sender: "How are we trending week over week for emails sent by [sender name]?"
How Do I Surface Insights?
Ask the assistant to find what's notable instead of asking a specific question — for example: "What are some interesting analytics changes in the recent data?" The assistant reviews your sends and surfaces performance shifts, device trends, and outliers.
How Do I Create a Shareable Summary?
Ask the assistant to reformat any answer for sharing — for example: "Summarize the recent engagement performance in an email format I can share with my leadership team." The assistant drafts a ready-to-send summary you can copy directly.
What Insights Assistant Cannot Help With
