If you duplicate an email and your edits to the copy also change the original, this is a known issue that happens when Email Collaboration is turned on. Disabling Email Collaboration stops the two emails from syncing so you can edit them independently.
This is an active known issue our team is working on. This article will be updated when a fix is released.
What you'll see
With Email Collaboration enabled, a duplicated email can share a live editing session with the email it was copied from. Because both emails are tied to the same session, changes made to one also appear in the other — so editing your new copy also edits the original.
Who is affected
You may see this if both of the following are true:
- Email Collaboration is turned on for your organization, and
- You created the email by duplicating an existing email.
Workaround: turn off Email Collaboration
Disabling Email Collaboration stops the duplicated email and the original from syncing.
Important: Only a ContactMonkey Owner or Administrator can change this setting. If you don't have that role, ask your admin to turn it off.
- Click your name at the top right of the dashboard.
- Select Settings.
- Click Email Settings.
- Scroll to the Email Collaboration section and use the toggle to turn it off.
Next Steps
Turning off Email Collaboration prevents further syncing between the duplicated email and the original. If edits were already copied across both, review each email and restore any content as needed.
