You can update contact information in your ContactMonkey Directory, including email addresses, phone numbers, and custom fields. The update method you use depends on how your Directory syncs with ContactMonkey.
Prerequisites
Before updating contacts, identify your Directory sync method:
- Integration sync: Azure, Workday, or HRIS API
- CSV upload: Manual file uploads only
You can check your sync method in the Directory section of your ContactMonkey dashboard.
Update Contacts from Integration Sources
If your Directory syncs via Azure, Workday, or an API integration, update contacts directly in your source system. ContactMonkey automatically syncs these changes.
Why this matters: Integration-synced fields take precedence over CSV uploads. If you attempt to update these contacts via CSV, your changes will be overwritten during the next sync.
Steps to Update
- Open your source system (Azure, Workday, or your API integration platform)
- Locate the contact record you want to update
- Make your changes in the source system
- Save the changes
- Wait for the next scheduled sync (or trigger a manual sync if available)
The updated information will appear in your ContactMonkey Directory within the sync interval, typically within 24 hours.
Update Contacts from CSV Uploads
If your Directory contains only CSV-uploaded contacts (no integration sync), you can update contacts by uploading a new CSV file. Click here to learn more.
