Whether you use our List Management feature or you are an SMS customer, you may need to update a contact in your ContactMonkey Directory. Updates could include changes to a contact's email address, phone number, or anything else that you have in ContactMonkey pertaining to that contact.
Depending on how your Directory is synced with ContactMonkey, how you update a contact in ContactMonkey will differ.
If your Directory is synced via Azure, Workday, or an API sync, it's best practice and recommended to update a contact's record directly from your source of truth (i.e. update the contact in Azure, Workday, or via the API sync).
Contacts synced from Azure, Workday, or via an API sync have specific fields that are set from each of those sources. These set fields will take precedent over a CSV upload. Meaning, if you have your contacts synced from Azure, Workday, or an API sync, and you try to update your contacts via a CSV upload, the contact records will not be updated, and need to be updated directly in the original integration source.
If your Directory consists of contacts that have only been uploaded via CSV files to date, you will be able to override any information tied to these contacts via any subsequent CSV uploads. Best practices for CSV uploads, including the column headers you should use, should be observed in this Help Center article.
