If links in your ContactMonkey email campaign redirect recipients to a blank page instead of your intended destination, you're likely using a link that has already been modified by tracking or security tools.
Why This Happens
ContactMonkey wraps your original URLs with tracking parameters to monitor clicks and engagement. When you add a link that's already been modified by ContactMonkey's tracker, Microsoft SafeLinks, Cisco URLDefense, or similar tools, the system attempts to track an already-tracked link, which breaks the redirect chain.
How to Fix Links in Future Emails
Always use the original, unmodified URL when building your email:
- Locate the original URL - Find the actual destination link before any tracking has been applied
-
Copy the clean URL - For example, use
https://example.com/pageinstead of a tracked version - Paste into your Email Builder - Add the original URL to your ContactMonkey email
- Let ContactMonkey handle tracking - The system will automatically apply tracking parameters when you send
ContactMonkey will add the necessary tracking when your campaign is sent, ensuring links work correctly.
Identifying Already-Tracked Links
ContactMonkey tracking URLs contain this prefix pattern: https://[your-domain]/api/v1/tracker?cm_session=...
Security tool URLs often include patterns like:
- SafeLinks:
https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/... - URLDefense:
https://urldefense.com/v3/... - Proofpoint:
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/...
If you see these patterns in a URL, find the original link instead.
