The File Manager is ContactMonkey's built-in tool for organizing and storing images, documents, and other files that you and your team use in email communications. With centralized file storage and sharing capabilities, your team can efficiently manage branded assets and frequently-used content.
What You Can Do
- Browse and search existing files across folders
- Upload files up to 20MB (no storage limits)
- Create folders to organize content by project, team, or file type
- Switch between views - grid or list display
- Preview images before inserting them
- Share files with teammates through Team Files
- Link files to buttons, images, and text in your emails
Accessing the File Manager
From the Dashboard
- Click your name at the top right → File Manager
From Image Blocks
- In the Email Builder, drag an Image content block into your email → Browse
- Alternatively, click existing images → Change image
From Links and Buttons
- Select Link file from the properties menu when working with images and buttons
- When adding hyperlinks, select File Manager from the Link Type drop-down
Uploading Files
Quick Upload (Recommended)
Drag and drop files from your computer directly into the File Manager window.
Alternative Methods
- Browse computer: Use the Upload button
- Stock photos: Use Search free photos (if enabled)
File Limits
- Maximum file size: 20MB per file
- Storage limit: None
- Supported formats: Images, text, videos, audio, Office files (except .oft), ZIP, PDFs, fonts, HTML
Finding Files
Browse and Sort
Navigate folders and sort content by:
- Name
- Date
- Size
- File type
Tip: The arrow icon shows the current sort order (ascending/descending).
Search Files
Use the search bar at the top right to filter results instantly
Managing Files and Folders
File Actions
Hover over any file to see available actions:
- Preview (images and documents)
- Delete (files and empty folders only)
Bulk Actions
- Use checkboxes to select multiple files
- Delete action appears at the top of the list
- Only deletable items show checkboxes
View Options
Grid View (Default)
- Visual thumbnails of images and file types
- Best for: Browsing image libraries
- Quick preview of visual content
List View
- Detailed file information (name, date, size, type)
- Best for: Text files, documents, detailed sorting
- Your preference saves for the next session
