Which Link Types Can't Be Tracked?
ContactMonkey can't track clicks on Email (mailto), Tel, SMS, or anchor (#section) links. Clicks on these link types won't appear in your campaign reports or click maps, even though the links themselves work normally for your readers.
Here's why: ContactMonkey tracks clicks by routing each link through a ContactMonkey redirect URL before sending the reader to the destination. That redirect only works for links that open a web page. An Email link hands the reader off to their mail client, a Tel or SMS link opens their phone or texting app, and an anchor link jumps within the same email — none of these make a web request that ContactMonkey can record.
URL and File Manager links are fully tracked. If measuring engagement matters for a call to action, link to a web page — for example, a contact page or intranet form — instead of using an Email, Tel, or SMS link.
