ContactMonkey lets you resend an email you've already sent — to everyone who received it, or only to the people who didn't open it — without rebuilding the campaign from scratch. This article shows you how to resend an email in just a few clicks.
Prerequisites
- You're sending through the ContactMonkey dashboard. Resending is not available in the web add-in.
- The email you want to resend has already been sent and appears in your Sent Emails library.
- The original email was sent with individual tracking. Emails sent with overall or anonymous tracking can't be resent at this time.
How to resend an email
- Go to Emails > Sent Emails.
- Find the email you want to resend and open the Actions menu.
- Select Send again.
- In the Resend email panel, choose your audience: The same recipients or Unopened recipients.
- Optionally, update the Subject line and Preview text to reframe your follow-up.
- Review the original email preview, then click Send Now.
Tip: You can also start a resend from the email's report page by clicking the Send again button in the header.
You'll see a confirmation message, and the email will appear at the top of your Sent Emails list.
Note: Send again sends immediately to your chosen audience. It does not use scheduling or time zone send windows, so recipients receive the email as soon as you click Send Now.
Choosing your audience
The same recipients resends the email to everyone on the original recipient list — useful as a nudge before a deadline.
Unopened recipients resends only to people whose opens weren't recorded — ideal for following up on important messages like benefits enrollment or policy updates.
Note: The unopened list is always based on the original email. Opens on a resend don't change who counts as unopened — so if you resend more than once, people who opened an earlier resend (but not the original email) will still receive the next resend.
What you can and can't edit
When you resend, you can edit the subject line and preview text. The email body, content blocks, links, sender, and recipient list stay the same as the original.
An email can be resent up to 5 times, and a resend can't itself be resent.
If you need to change the email content, use the Duplicate feature in the build area instead, which creates a fresh, editable copy.
How resends appear in reporting
Each resend is tracked as its own campaign with its own metrics.
Troubleshooting
Problem: The Send Now button is grayed out.
Solution: This happens when the selected audience has zero recipients. Switch your audience choice — for example, from Unopened recipients to The same recipients — to enable the button.
Problem: There's no Resend Email option on an email.
Solution: There are two common reasons:
- The email was sent using overall or anonymous tracking. Only emails sent with individual tracking can be resent at this time.
- The email is itself a resend. Only original ("parent") emails can be resent — a resend ("child" email) can't be resent again.
