This guide shows you how to send a ContactMonkey email through the Online Dashboard. You'll use the ContactMonkey platform to insert your pre-designed email, add recipients, and track engagement.
Step 1: Navigate to the Email Composer
- Click Emails at the top of your ContactMonkey dashboard
- Select Compose & Send
Step 2: Select the Sender Address
Choose who the email will come from:
- Click the dropdown menu beside Send from
- Select your desired sender address

Step 3: Add Recipients
Choose how to add recipients in the Send to section:
- CSV upload: Import a bulk recipient list from a CSV file
- Contact list: Select from your ContactMonkey directory (requires List Management)
Step 4: Choose Your Send Time
Select when your email will be sent:
- Send now: Email goes out immediately after final confirmation

Schedule for later: Set a specific date and time
- Send in recipients' timezones: Deliver at optimal times based on recipient location (more information here)
Step 5: Write Your Subject Line and Preheader Text
Enter your subject line and preheader text in the fields provided. Your subject line is the first thing recipients seeāmake it count. Use clear, action-oriented language and keep subject lines under 50 characters for optimal mobile display.
Step 6: Select Your Email Template
- Click Choose from library
- Select the email draft you want to send
- Its content will populate in the preview window for your review
Step 7: Configure Tracking Settings
- Click the Additional Settings tab at the top
- Select your desired tracking options
These settings determine what engagement data you'll receive after sending.
Step 8: Preview and Test Your Email
Before sending to your full list, send a test to yourself:
- Click Send a test email
- Enter the email address(es) you would like to send a test to
- Click Send test and verify the following:
- Sender name displays correctly
- Formatting appears properly on desktop and mobile
- All links work
- Interactive elements (surveys, polls) function correctly
Make any necessary edits and test again until everything looks perfect.
Step 9: Send Your Campaign
Once you're satisfied with your test, click Send now/Schedule for later in the top right.
Step 10: Confirm Delivery
You'll receive an email confirmation within a few minutes indicating whether your email was delivered successfully or failed.
The confirmation includes a unique 7-digit campaign ID. Save this ID in case you need to contact ContactMonkey Support for assistance.
