Mistakes happen — a link might change after you’ve already sent your email.
With ContactMonkey, you can update where a link points even after your email has been delivered, without needing to resend it.
This ensures your communications stay accurate, up-to-date, and seamless for your readers.
How It Works
- When you insert a link using ContactMonkey’s email builder, it’s automatically set up to support redirection.
- ContactMonkey replaces your link with a secure redirect
- When someone clicks it, we instantly route them to the destination you’ve assigned.
- If you update the destination later, future clicks will follow the new path — no need to resend your email.
- This change is invisible to your audience.
When You Can Update a Link
You can update a link if:
- The email was sent through ContactMonkey.
- You're editing a supported link type. This includes button links, text links, and image links created in the builder.
- The email is still active. Archived or deleted emails can’t be edited.
Even if someone has already clicked the link, your update will apply to future clicks.
Common Use Cases
- Fix a mistake: You linked to the wrong SharePoint page or resource.
- Update content: A document or registration link has changed.
- React to changes: Event details change after your email goes out.
Things to Know
- You can only update links after your email has completed sending.
- Plain text URLs pasted into the email (not hyperlinked) cannot be changed.
- You can edit each link as many times as needed.
- Click Maps, Best Performing Links, and All Links will reflect the new destination but continue tracking engagement from before the change.
How To Update A Link
- Log in to your ContactMonkey dashboard.
- Go to Emails > Sent Emails.
- Find the email you'd like to update and either:
Click the three-dot menu > Links, or
Open the email, then click the Links tab
On the Links page:
Links appear in the order they exist in your email: top to bottom, left to right.
You’ll see 10 links per page - click through to find more if needed. - Click the pencil icon beside the link you want to edit.
- Paste your new destination URL and save your changes.
That’s it! All future clicks will now go to your updated link.
