Your ContactMonkey license connects to your full mailbox (personal corporate email), but you can send emails from any shared mailbox you have permission to access. Understanding the difference between these mailbox types helps you set up your sends correctly.

What is a Full Mailbox?
A full mailbox is your personal corporate email address that requires a Microsoft 365 license. This mailbox is assigned to a single user and is necessary to log in to Outlook.
Example: john.doe@company.com
What is a Shared Mailbox?
A shared mailbox is an email address that multiple team members can access and use to send emails. Shared mailboxes do not require a separate Microsoft 365 license and include all standard mailbox features: inbox, calendar, and contact list.
Example: communications@company.com
How ContactMonkey Works With Both Mailbox Types
ContactMonkey licenses are assigned to your full mailbox, not to shared mailboxes. This design allows you to send from multiple shared mailboxes without needing separate licenses. ContactMonkey uses your existing Outlook permissions to enable sending from any shared mailbox you have access to.
Sending from a Shared Mailbox
To send ContactMonkey emails from a shared mailbox, you must first have the proper Outlook permissions configured by your IT administrator. Instructions are available for Windows and Mac.
